Snapping Types

You can snap dimensions with another dimensions and annotation planes with geometries.

This page discusses:

Snapping Dimensions

You can see the snapping of dimensions while dragging if the dimensions lies within the snapping zone. You can see automatic snapping if the dimension is inside the snapping zone.

Linear Dimensions Snapping Behavior
Dimensions without adjacent dimensions During dimension creation or dragging, while you place the dimension line, soft snapping occurs at 6mm intervals from the edge of geometry.
Dimensions with adjacent dimensions When you create or drag a dimension line near an existing dimension, snapping occurs collinear to the existing dimension.

Dimensions or annotation text The dimension value or text is automatically snapped to the center of the dimension line. However, if the text or value is moved farther from the center, it can be placed out of the dimension lines also.

Snapping Annotation Plane to Geometry

You can snap annotation planes to the planes, edges, or centerlines of a cylindrical face that is parallel to the plane.

Geometry Snapping Behavior
Planes parallel to annotation plane While you activate the Annotation Plane command and select a plane, snapping occurs between the annotation plane and the plane.

Edges parallel to the annotation plane While you activate the annotation plane command and select the edge, snapping occurs between the annotation plane and the edge.
A centreline of cylindrical faces parallel to the annotation plane While you activate the annotation plane command and select the centreline of a cylindrical face, snapping occurs between the annotation plane and the centreline of the cylindrical face.
