Creating Surface Finishes

You can a create surface finish on a 3D view or directly on a model. You can add surface finish to the faces to make it smooth during manufacturing.

If you add annotations directly on a model that do not have 3D views, the annotations are inserted in a 3D view by default(isometric view).

Before you begin: Open or import a model in the app.
  1. Activate a 3D View from the Manager panel.
  2. From the action bar, select Annotation> Surface Finish .
  3. Select the component for which the surface finish needs to be created.
  4. Click in the work area to place the surface finish.
The Surface finish dialog box appears.
  5. Choose a symbol.
  6. Choose a surface texture.
  7. Choose a value for Roughness value prefix.
  8. Enter values for Symbol Layout.

You can enter the values as per the tooltips in each field.

  9. Optional: Expand Leader Attachment, and select the check box for Attachment to geometry.
By default, surface finish is inserted without leaders, and so the option, Attachment to geometry is not selected by default.
  10. Select the geometry to attach the leader.
  11. Click Apply and repeat.
The surface finish is created on the selected component. The dialog box remains open. You can create multiple surface finishes at once. Click to save changes and close the dialog box.

You can move, drag, and change the position of the surface finish. You can also rotate the box. For more information, see Moving Annotations.

You can edit the surface finish using the context toolbar. For more information, see Context Toolbars.

The surface finish is displayed under the selected view in the tree.
