Using the DSclipse Integration

This task shows you how to install DSClipse and open the DSclipse console.

Before you begin:
  • Eclipse must be installed and running.
  • DesignSync client core must be installed.
Note: When running Eclipse on Windows Vista machines, you must start it as Administrator in order to run the DesignSync plug-in.

Installing DSclipse

This procedure shows you how to install DSclipse.

  1. Install DSclipse as described in the ENOVIA Synchronicity DesignSync Data Manager Installation, located in the Program Directory.
  2. For optimal functionality, you should restart Eclipse after installing the DesignSync integration.
DesignSync Data Manager for Eclipse is now ready to use.

Opening the DSclipse console

The console window displays DesignSync output window. This window displays any output produced by the DesignSync commands performed within DSclipse.

To display the console window, select Window | Show View | Console.

This results in the DesignSync console view displaying on the workbench.

Saving a Password

Your project leader may have configured DesignSync to require username and password authentication when accessing data on a SyncServer. In most cases, Eclipse prompts you to enter and save the password the first time it connects to the server. In some cases, you may want to save the password in advance of the first connection to the server.

  1. Open a console window to your system, if you do not already have one open.
You have a command-line interface to enter commands to the system.
  2. Using the dssc interface, enter the password command.dss passwd -save <ServerURL>
The system prompts you for a username and password.
  3. Enter the username and password you use on the server.
DesignSync saves the username/password and server combination to use when connections are made to that server.

DesignSync saves your username and password for the server to use for DesignSync actions on that server.
