Deleting Objects

This topic discusses deleting objects or workspaces that are under source control. You may delete the following objects:

  • Eclipse project
  • Module member
  • DesignSync vault member
  • Project sub-folder
An Eclipse project or sub-folder may contain a module or a collection of DesignSync vault objects. If you delete a project, it removes the project from both your work area and server, and optionally deletes the associated files and directories from your disk. If the project or sub-folder is in a module hierarchy, the hierarchy is removed, beginning with the selected module.
Important: You cannot delete a folder containing a referenced module using the delete command. If you want to remove a hierarchical reference from the workspace, see Using DSclipse with Modules.
Note: You may also remove a module member from a workspace by using the DesignSync Remove from Module command.
For more information, see Removing an Object from a Module.

Before you begin:
  • The DesignSync server must be running.
  • You have appropriate objects in your work area to delete.
  1. Select the desired objects and choose File | Delete.
This launches the appropriate DesignSync command to remove the object from the workspace.
  2. Perform a checkin operation to update the server. (for module members only)
The output of the operation is stored in the DSclipse log file and echoed to the console view. The decorations for the objects may change to reflect the status of the objects. DesignSync creates a new module version that does not contain the selected objects. Any other structural or content changes in the workspace are checked in as well.

The design object is removed from the workspace and the server.
