Performing a Cutout Analysis

Cutout Analysis checks that a surface or a 3D curve can be cut out.

  1. Select an axis system (stamping direction).

The Z-Axis represents the cutting tool axis.

  2. Select the surface or 3D curve to analyze with respect to an allowed cutout angle.
    1. If you have selected a 3D curve, select a surface.

Cutout Analysis retrieves the normals of the 3D curve with respect to this surface.

  3. Select an analysis method.
    • Analyze Normals
    • Analyze Shear Angle
    • Analyze 2D Angles
    • Analyze 3D Angles
    • Analyze Insertion Depth:
    • Pierce Analysis
  4. Optional: Except for Analyze Shear Angle, select a support surface (If you have selected a 3D curve).
  5. Activate more options:
  6. Select a Color Mode
  7. Set the View Mode for the analysis.
  8. Set the Mesh Behavior.
  9. Go to Extract Geometry to convert the results of the displayed analysis to dead geometry.
