Creating a Trim Partition

Use Trim Partition to cut a surface boundary or 3D curve into several areas.

Before you begin: Run analyses before starting Trim Partition.
  1. Select the elements to split:
    • A surface.
    • A stamping direction.
    • A surface partition.
  2. Select the splitting elements to divide the boundary into several areas, all kept.
    • 3D curves.
    • Sketches.
    • A plane and create a sketch on the selected plane from the context toolbar.
  3. Select the elements (wireframe) to cut the scraps.
Depending on the geometries inside the sketch that defines the scrap cutters, geometries are extracted and computed with a type (Scrap hole or Scrap Line).
Tip: Change the type from the context menu.
Note: Existing older trim partitions are updated to create scrap cutters types.
  4. Check the result under More.
    1. Select one element.
    2. Optional: Change its type from the context toolbar.
  5. Edit the minimum and maximum tolerances of the curves as required.
  6. Choose intermediate geometries to associate to the selected element.
