Extracting Sub-Elements

You can extract sub-elements (curves, points, surfaces, solids, volumes and so forth) that are joined into one element.

Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing geometric elements.

About Geometry Extraction
  1. From the Tooling Geometry section of the action bar, click Multiple Extract .
  2. Select the elements to be extracted.
If the first selected element is a curve (or a point, a surface, a volume), the next selected element is necessarily a curve (or a point, a surface, a volume).

Note: To remove an element from the list, re-select it in the work area.
  3. Select the Propagation type.
    • Point continuity: The extracted element is created according to point conditions and therefore has no hole.

    • Tangent continuity: The extracted element is created according to tangency conditions.

    • Curvature continuity: The extracted element (necessarily a curve) is created according to curvature conditions.

    • No propagation: only the selected element is created.
  4. Select the Federation check box to generate one or more groups of federated cells according to their connectivity.
    Important:
    • This option applies to all the inputs that lie on the same support.
    • The cells that are not propagated are never federated, even if they are in contact with other federated cells.
  5. Optional: Select Ban domain merging check box.
When the selected elements to extract come from different domains of the same feature, the Multiple Extract feature leaves them in different domains (even if the elements are connected to each other).

Clear Ban domain merging check box if the Multiple Extract feature shall combine connected elements coming from different domains to a single domain.

Warning: This option works only if the selected elements to extract are 1D elements.
  6. Click OK.
If the result contains only one domain, the multiple extract operation is terminated.

If the result contains more than one domain, you can manage the multiple result in the Multi-Result Mangement dialog box.
