Creating a Boundary Analysis Manager

You can create a manager feature to analyze the boundary to extrapolate. From the analysis, the manager creates children features. These children features are boundaries with a type, such as Surface Extension Boundary, Connect Surface Boundary, Complex Boundary or Fillet Connect Boundary.

Before you begin: See About the Extension Process.
  1. From the Die Face section in the action bar, click Boundary Analysis .
  2. Select an axis system.
  3. Select the surfaces to analyze for the extrapolation.
  4. Select a boundary for the extrapolation.
  5. Select cutting elements, if you want to split a children feature.

Cutting elements can be a sketch on a top view, or two non connecting shells.

  6. Click Apply.
The results are displayed in the dialog box.
  7. Select an Analysis Category Type from the list to filter the results.
  8. Select a result line to reframe on it and inspect it.
    1. Select a new type from the Update Result Type list to change the type of a children feature.

The children features are created in the tree, under Boundary Analysis, with a name that identifies their type.

A Surface Extension Boundary contains axis profiles. When you select a Surface Extension Boundary in Surface Extension Manager the planes are retrieved from the boundary. The planes are created in Boundary Analysis with an orientation that ensures a good result in Surface Extension Manager, and that Connect Surface fills the gap between two surface extensions.

Notes:
  • If you change the type of a boundary to Surface Extension Boundary, the planes are computed automatically, but not oriented automatically.
  • If you change the type of a Surface Extension Boundary to another type, the planes are deleted.
