About Adaptive Systems

Here are a few concepts about Insert Adaptive Component.

Adaptive System
Structured Component that publishes parameters and features with specific naming rules and containing several engineering connections.
  • It has at least one external constraint, introducing a movement during kinematics, piloted by the context.
  • It may contain a specific external geometry called MechanismForm (body that is an input of another feature such as Add or Assemble).
  • It is fixed to the context by a Hook/Component Specification rigid engineering connection.
  • It is sometimes adjusted by the context with constraints. For example, a simple Lifter could be constrained by the context with an axis system defining the direction of the withdrawal movement and the top limit of the inclined pin, a plane named Top Plane that limits the bottom of the head and another plane named Bottom Plane that connects the bottom of the Lifter to the Ejector System.

Structured Component
Assembled Component.
Contextual Engineering Connection
Engineering connection created between a child product of the active product and a product that does not belong to the active product.
MechanismForm
Solid in contact with the part that gives it a specific shape.
Reconnection
Insert Adaptive System reconnects the Adaptive System with its constraint in the global structure, by finding a temporary engineering connection you have defined in this Adaptive System.
  • The constraint must be defined between a sub-component of the Adaptive System and its Skeleton.
  • Insert Adaptive System examines the publications of the Adaptive System Skeleton used in the constraint looking for a publication name like External.NameOfTargetProduct.Name OfTheTargetPublication, where
    • External is a keyword to recognize temporary engineering connections to be transformed in contextual engineering connections.
    • NameOfTargetProduct is the name of the product publishing the target publication.
    • Name OfTheTargetPublication is the name of the target publication.
  • Reconnection is done with a publication under the root of the context.
    • If only one publication has the required name, reconnection is done.
    • If several publications have the same name, NameOfTargetProduct indicates that is the required one.
    • If several products have the same name, automatic reconnection is impossible.
    • If the naming criteria are not met, automatic reconnection is impossible.
  • When automatic reconnection is impossible, the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box appears to let you recreate the engineering connection manually.

To distribute the sub-components inside elements of the root product to compute the bill of materials, or the partial weight, dispatch the system manually using the assembly Move to command.

Duplicated elements are not removed from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform after an undo.

Insert one simulation mechanism manually under each parent product and associate it to the highest mechanism for simulation with the dedicated command.

The order of the engineering connections is important, and rerouting parameters are expected in second position.
