Cutting Components

You can cut several mono-instance Components in an assembly product structure.

Notes:
  • Only impactable or mono-instance Structured Components can be selected.
  • You cannot insert, edit, delete, or replace the output elements, nor manage their impacts.
  • You can define the Offset Parting value of Form Ejection Component.
  • Surface reduction is not supported, except for Ejectors, if an Form Ejection Component has been created to locate them.

  1. From the Component Use section of the action bar, click Cut Tooling Components .
  2. Optional: Click to allow the selection of a Component with Assembly Features of type Cut as the Cutting Part. Otherwise that Component would be seen as the one to cut.
  3. Select the Cutting Part.

    A Cutting Part is a product that contains at least one Assembly Feature of type Cut.

    Tip: Structured Components are easier to select from the tree.

  4. Select an Assembly Feature from the list of Assembly Features of type Cut.
    The direction of cut is displayed as an arrow. This direction is defined when creating the Assembly Cut.

  5. Select the Components and Structured Components to cut.

    • Multiselection is possible using Ctrl or Shift keys.
    • Click a Component again to remove it from the selection.
    • Only impactable Components are supported. See About Components with a Type.
    • You can select only mono-instance Components.



    Validation is now available.
  6. Optional: Double-click a Form Ejection Component in the Tooling Components to cut list to edit its Offset Parting value.
  7. Validate to perform the cut.
    The selected Components are cut.
  8. Update the model to visualize the cut.
