Constraining Link Set Links in a Scope

You can use a constraint configuration file to apply link type rules when creating links through a scope.

Before you begin:
  1. A constraint file must be created. See Links Constraint Configuration.
  2. This configuration file must be uploaded in a project or bookmark folder, through the appropriate 3DEXPERIENCE Platform app.

For more information about uploading files in these apps, see the related User's Guide.

  1. To contraint a link set:
    1. From a scope, open a link set.
    2. From the tree, drag a constraint file to the Lock icon.

Important: When a constraint configuration file is applied, you cannot remove it. You can replace it by dragging another constraint configuration file.

  2. To test the constraint file:
    1. In the traceability graph view, click Link Mode .
    2. Select a link set.
Note: The link type list is filled with standard link types, existing link types from link set and link types from corresponding rule files.
    3. Select a link set.
    4. To create a link, drag a source element onto a target element.
The configuration file checks the link type rules according to source and target resources. For example:
    Link Type Rule Behavior
    No An error message appears.
Contains default link type Link is created with default link type even if they are other link types that could match.
Only one link type Link is created immediately with the only suitable type regardless of default link type.
Multiple link types Link creation dialog with suitable link types.
