Applying a Pattern to a Model or Document

In a scope, you can use a pattern to identify and extract traceability elements.

With a pattern, you can:

  • Analyze the structure of your document
  • Extract specific traceability elements that are not recognized by default

Example for a Word document: a pattern can be used to identify particular paragraphs as requirements or links.

Before you begin:
  1. Create a pattern. See Inserting a Pattern.
  2. Open a scope with documents to be analyzed (Word or Excel files for example).

About Patterns
  1. From the tree, drag a pattern.
  2. Drop it onto a root element in the scope.

Note: The traceability must be refreshed to reflect any modification of patterns that are already associated to the scope. For more information, see Refreshing Traceability.
