Managing Scope, Pattern and Link Set Revision

You can create a revision of a scope. You can also change the revision of the elements that are referenced in a scope.

In a scope, when you replace an element by one of its revisions, the links in the link set are not modified. They still link to the former revision. If you need, you can reroute these links to the revised elements.

This task shows you how to:

Revise a Scope

You can create a revision of your scope.

  1. Select a scope with a link set.
  2. From the properties area, click New Revision .
A new revision is created, indicated by a revision number.

Replace an Element by another Revision

In a scope, you can replace a referenced element by one of its revisions. Such revision is created in the element's editor.

Before you begin: In the element's editor, create a revision for an element that is referenced in your scope.
  1. In your scope, click Edit .
  2. From the context toolbar, click Check .

Important: This command checks in the scope:
    • If the referenced elements are still available
    • If there is another revision (prior or older) for the referenced elements.

The elements with one or more revisions are indicated with an icon. The revision number is displayed in this icon:
    • - Yellow icon on the right of the element: the revision is more recent than the current revision.
    • - Gray icon on the left of the element: the revision is older than the current revision.
  3. Select one revision or more.
  4. From the context toolbar, click OK to validate the replacement.

Reroute Links to Revised Elements

When a scope is modified to reference another revision, the link set links (source or target) are not modified. You can migrate these links to point the new revision.

Before you begin: In your scope, replace an element (pointed by the link set) by one of its revisions.
  1. Select the link set that you want to reroute.
  2. From the context toolbar, click Reroute .
The links are rerouted to correspond to the same targets and sources in the revised element.
  3. Optional: If there are several link sets in the scope, repeat Steps 1 and 2 for every link set.
