Generating Primitives on Large Clouds of Points

You can generate basic primitives like Generative Shape Design Point, Plane and Axis system from the point cloud in which these primitives can be used for various existing commands like Snap, Measure, Insert existing Product or Resource, Create Electrical Cables, etc.

Before you begin:

  • Activate a 3DShape in the UI.
  • From the Compass, click Terrain Preparation.

  1. From the Create section of the action bar, click Generate Primitives on Large Cloud Of Points .
  2. Select the representation reference for point cloud (a 3DShape, at the part level) in the tree or in the 3D area.
The Generate Primitive Options window is displayed. When primitives already exist, they are listed. A context toolbar is also displayed, containing the following commands: Point , Plane and Axis . By default, the Point generation option is the first option to generate the primitive.
  3. Click Point for trap selection to select the required section of point cloud to keep on generating the GSD points.
  4. Change the selection to Plane and then GSD planes are generated for trap selection.
  5. Change the selection to Axis and then GSD axes are generated by selecting the already generated primitives.
A compass is attached to each generated primitive and can be modified or moved. All these primitives are created under activated 3DShape.
  6. To edit the Visibility and Color, use the list view options in the Generate Primitive Options window.
One or several rows can be edited, hidden or deleted.
  7. Select a compass attached to the selected primitive to modify its position and transformation.
You can measure the distance between two entities by clicking Measure Between from the Tools section of the action bar. Picking on the large point cloud works with the Picking point mode only.
