About Inventor® Part Factory and Assembly Factory

You can open and save a part factory or an assembly factory in Inventor® from MySession.

This page discusses:

Save a Part Factory and an Assembly Factory in 3DEXPERIENCE

In MySession, when you click Save from the contextual menu, a Save dialog box appears. It displays the contents of the selected part or assembly factory to be saved to 3DEXPERIENCE.

When you open a Part Factory, you can view the PartFactory and the list of all its active instances or the instances with generated files in MySession.

When you save an assembly factory in 3DEXPERIENCE, following information is saved;

  • An active assembly item with all its structure
  • The data that already has generated files
  • The root assembly factory

The factory file is mapped to XCADModelRepReferenceand the instance of assembly is mapped as VPMReference.

Note:
  • The files for active instance are auto-generated.
  • When you save a modified iAssembly, the Save dialog box displays the modified instance and its factory and can be saved to the same Revision.
  • You can save only the iParts with part factory or the iAssemblies with the assembly factory that has a generated file.

Open a Part Factory and an Assembly Factory from 3DEXPERIENCE into Inventor®

When you open an assembly factory instance or a part factory instance in Inventor®, the following files are downloaded;

  • The main factory
  • iAssembly for assembly factory or instance for part factory
Note:
  • When a factory is opened, the active iAssembly or iPart is saved.
  • When an iAssembly or iPart is opened, the factory file is loaded in Inventor® and this iAssembly or iPart is activated inside the factory.
  • On opening an assembly factory, a part factory, or any of its instance, all the linked members for that factory are not downloaded. All the instances for which the file was generated while saving are downloaded on Checking out the factory or the instances.
  • When a factory is revised, all its instances are revised. You cannot revise individual iAssembly or iPart.
