Connecting Design with Inventor to 3DEXPERIENCE

You can connect Inventor® to 3DEXPERIENCE using the Compass.

Before you begin: Enable below products:
  • 3D Component Designer for PLM Services
  • PLM Collaboration Services for Inventor®
  1. Click the west quadrant of 3DEXPERIENCE Compass.
  2. Click Inventor®.

The Inventor 2020 crashes when you try to use the Design with Inventor. The following workaround is available to bypass this issue.

From Inventor, navigate to Tools > Applications Options > General Tab and disable Show My Home on startup option.

However if the Design with Inventor client is installed Inventor will crash before this setting can be changed. Therefor, without uninstalling the client code disable it from loading when Inventor is started. To disable it perform the following steps.

    1. Navigate to the installation directory and rename ENOINVUPSIntegration.dll file, or remove it from the directory.
    2. Launch Inventor 2020 and navigate to Tools > Applications Options > General Tab and disable Show My Home on startup option.
    3. Close Inventor and rename the file to ENOINVUPSIntegration.dll and add it to the installation directory.

Inventor® opens and you log in to MySession Task Pane.

Notes:
  • If you have already started the Inventor®, the INVENTOR Connector reuses the opened Inventor® session and connects the same to 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • If you have installed Inventor® on your local machine, the latest supported installed version of Inventor® is connected to 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • After installing Design with Inventor, when you open theDesign with Inventor the first time, you can view the icons for 3DEXPERIENCE and IEFClientWorkspaceService in the system tray. These icons indicate that you have connected Inventor® to3DEXPERIENCE.
