Creating New from Template

You can create new files from templates, which are saved to the 3DEXPERIENCE.

Before you begin: The following data types support template management.
Design with Inventor 3DEXPERIENCE
Part (cmpTemplate) XCADTemplate
Assembly (asmTemplate) XCADTemplate
Drawing (dwgTemplate) XCADTemplate
  1. From the MySession action bar, click New From Template.
    The New From Template dialog box opens.

    The table below explains the New From Template dialog box.

    Options Description
    CAD Type Select a CAD type as Part, Assembly, or Drawing.
    Templates Browse a template saved in the 3DEXPERIENCE from which you want to create a new document.
    File Name Enter a file name.
  2. Click OK.
    A new document is created from the selected template and is opened in Design with Inventor after download.
    Note: You cannot save the downloaded template to 3DEXPERIENCE. An error message is displayed.
