Creating Inventor® data from Product Structure Editor

You can create Inventor® parts, assemblies, and drawings from Product Structure Editor.

This task shows you how to:

Creating a New Part

  1. Select New Part from the templates.
  2. Enter a Title name from the New Part dialog box.
  3. Select Inventor®-Default part from the Template tab.
  4. Click Create.

The Inventor® part is successfully created in Product Structure Editor. You can open this part in Inventor®.

Creating a New Assembly

  1. Select New Product from the templates.
  2. Enter a Title name from the New Product dialog box.
  3. Select Inventor®-Default product from the Template tab.
  4. Click Create.

The Inventor® assembly is successfully created in Product Structure Editor. You can open this assembly in Inventor®.

Creating a New Drawing

  1. Select New Drawing from the templates.
  2. Enter a Title name from the New Drawing dialog box.
  3. Select Inventor®-Default Drawing from the Template tab.
  4. Click Create.

The Inventor® drawing is successfully created in Product Structure Editor. You can open this drawing in Inventor®.

You can create your own template and replace the default template provided by the connector.

Follow the below procedure;

  1. Create the templates (Assembly, part, or drawing).
    Note: Name the template with UPSIV and extension as .iam for Assembly,.ipt for Part, and .idw for drawing.
  2. Close 3DEXPERIENCE.
  3. Add the template in the folder <ServerName>\apache-tomcat\webapp\3DSpace\WEB-INF\resources\ups.
  4. Restart the 3DEXPERIENCE.
