Multi-Neutral Drafts

You can migrate a multi-neutral draft both into CATIA V6 using the CATIA_SPEC option.

  1. In your CATIA V4 session, use the Merge option in the Solid function to merge the whole model into one solid.
  2. Save the changes.
  3. Open your V4 model in a CATIA V6 session. In our example, the purple draft is created using nine faces determining the neutral element.
  4. Right-click *MASTER and select Copy.
  5. Select Add > Content.
    The New dialog box appears.
  6. Click 3D Part.
    A new 3D part is created.
  7. In this document, right-click the PartBody and select Paste Special.
  8. Ensure that CATIA_SPEC is the option selected in the Paste Special dialog box that is displayed.
  9. Click OK.

    In CATIA version 6, you have access to the model's geometry and specifications. CATIA V6 has created a draft feature.

    The Draft Both Sides dialog box clearly shows that two faces were drafted using a parting element.

    The Draft Definition dialog box clearly shows that the purple face was drafted using nine faces to determine the parting element.
