Sweeps

You can migrate sweeps into CATIA V6. When migrating a sweep, you can use three different options to control the profile.

These options are:

  • Keep angle
  • Pulling direction
  • Reference surface (default option)

  1. In your CATIA V4 session, use the Merge option in the Solid function to merge the whole model into one solid.
  2. Save the changes.
  3. Open your V4 model in a CATIA V6 session.
  4. Right-click *MASTER and select Copy.
  5. Select Add > Content.
    The New dialog box appears.
  6. Click 3D Part.
    A new 3D part is created.
  7. In this document, right-click the PartBody and select Paste Special.
  8. Ensure that CATIA_SPEC is the option selected in the Paste Special dialog box that is displayed.
  9. Click OK.

    In CATIA version 6, the sweep is migrated as a rib.

    You have access to the model's geometry and specifications. Therefore, you can now modify each feature of the new document.

    The profile control option used is Reference surface that is the default option used for migrating sweeps.

    Now, if you prefer to sweep the profile using the Keep angle option, you will obtain a rib.

    To see an example of a sweep migrated using the Pulling direction option

    Perform the steps as described in the above scenario. You obtain a rib.

    The pulling direction used is Line.1, that is the highlighted line in front of the part (see picture).

    Now, if you prefer to sweep the profile using the Reference surface option, you will obtain a rib.

    The reference surface used is Plane.1, that is the blue plane.
