Measuring Distance or Angle Between Items

You can measure the distance, and if applicable, the angle between two items.

  1. In the Measure panel, set the measure specifications as follows:

    Measurement type
    • Minimum distance : Measures the minimum distance (and, if applicable, the angle) between two items.
    • Maximum distance : Measures the maximum distance between two items.
    • Maximum distance from 1 to 2 : Measures the maximum distance between two items. The distance is measured normal to the first selection.
    • Measure along a direction : Measures the distance between two selections along x, y, z, or, another axis.
    Measurement mode
    • Chain measure : Lets you chain the measurements with the last selected item becoming the first selection in the next measurement.
    • Multiple Measure Between : Creates several measurements independent of each other without clicking the Measure command several times.
    • Fan Measure : Fixes the first selection as the reference so that you always measure from this item.

  2. Select the items between which you want to measure the distance.

    You can Ctrl + select multiple items to create a group selection. The objects in the Selection 1 box are considered as the first group, and the objects in the Selection 2 box are considered as the second group.

  3. In the Measure customization panel, show or hide different parameters to be displayed in the 3D area and under Measure Results in the Measure panel.
  4. On the context toolbar, click Validate the Measure .
