Exporting a Measure as a New Representation

Once you have created a measure, you can export it as a new 3D representation and save it in the database.

  1. Right-click the measure in the tree or the 3D area and select MeasureObject.x > Export Measure As (The object word is replaced by the type of selected geometry such as plane, arc, and edge.)
    • A new window appears showing the 3D representation.
    • If you create a measure between objects, the result is two points representing the minimum or maximum distances and the line linking these two points. Note that there is no relation of associativity between these two points and the line.
    • If you measure a single object, the result is a single point. This point is the characteristic representation of the measure item. For a surface and volume, it corresponds to the center of gravity; for a point, it is the same point; for a line or a curve it is the middle point.
  2. Save the newly created 3D representation in the database.

Important:
  • Measures can be exported whether your review is active or not.
  • Measures can only be exported as 3D representations.
  • Hidden measures can be exported.
  • You can multi-select measures before performing the Export Measure As operation.
  • If, when a measure between object is exported, the minimum distance is zero millimeters, the export result will be only two points.
  • If you make geometry changes then export a measure, the exported measure is not updated.
  • You cannot use the Undo or Redo commands to cancel or repeat the creation of a representation.
  • You can set a prefix to be added to all new PLM objects in the Identification String box available under Me > Preferences > App Preferences > Social and Collaborative > Global Design Management > Collaborative Lifecycle > Identification tab.
