Replacing an Existing Predefined Configuration

You can change or replace the instantiated predefined configuration, by another configuration of same or another reference.

Note: The Replace by Existing Configuration is available for all the configuration mode.

Before you begin: Search for a configured product structure.
  1. Select a product with a predefined configuration.
  2. From the Product Modification section of the action bar, click Replace by Existing Configuration .

The Object Selection dialog box appears.
  3. Search for the reference.
The result panel displays all the references.
  4. Select the reference, and then click OK.

The selected configuration is replaced by an existing configuration.
    Notes:
    • The Replace by Existing Configuration is also available on the instances that have no static mapping. In this case, the selected instance is replaced by the searched configuration.
    • If the selected reference does not have any configuration associated with it, an error message appears indicating that there is no configuration available from object. No replace operation takes place.
    • If an existing configuration is modified after it is instantiated under the reference, and then Replace by Existing Configuration is used, the previously mentioned steps are followed. In this case, it will always consider the present (at the time of execution of the command ) configuration, even if the configuration is changed.
    • When you replace by an existing configuration other than the instantiated configuration and from same reference, the change of static mapping happens successfully, but this change is not reflected visually in same window. The filter for changed static mapping is applied, but the tree is not refreshed. To view the changes, reopen the product structure after you save it.
