Synchronizing Links and Relations

Synchronizing links and relations involves copying geometrical elements after an import operation. You can synchronize links and relations manually or automatically.


Before you begin: Open an existing product containing 3D shapes with links and relations between them.
  1. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Links & Relations .
    The Edit Links & Relations dialog box appears. The dialog box is divided in four areas that provide the following information:
    • The current product structure under the Components/Relations/Links column.
    • The detailed status for each level of the product structure indicated either by a green thumb or red thumb under the Status column. For more information about the symbol-coded icons, see About Links and Relations.
    • The role can be any of the following:
    • Support
    • Impacts on
    • Context
    • Impacted by
    • The proposed action to solve the detected issue at each level under the Proposed action column.
  2. Select the relation you want to synchronize, and click Synchronize link .
    The relation is synchronized.
    Important:

    When links or relations cannot be synchronized, the Selection Assistant dialog box appears to help you synchronize them.

  3. To synchronize all unsynchronized relations, click Synchronize link without selecting a link or relation.
    A green thumb for each relation in the product structure indicates the synchronization is complete.
  4. Click OK in the Edit Links & Relations dialog box.
