Measuring Between Items

You can measure the minimum distance between objects, maximum distance between objects, maximum distance from one object to another, and angle by using the Measure Between command. You can also measure along a direction, where you can specify the direction along which you want to measure.

  1. Select the first item in either the geometry or, if applicable, the tree.
The selected object is highlighted, and the robot is positioned at the origin of the scene coordinate system of the selected item. The Measure Between balloon appears. It provides options to select the type of measure, depending on the context. The mouse pointer changes to the first selection pointer .
  2. In the balloon, select the required measure type, and, if appropriate, the direction along which you want to measure.
  3. Select the second item in either the geometry or, if applicable, the tree.
The selected geometry is highlighted and the measured value appears.
  4. Click anywhere in the work area.

The measure is created and the text box is positioned. The selection points disappear and the robot returns to its standard position.

Tips:
  • You can move the measure text box and position it as required.
  • You can drag the dimension line in the required direction. Extension lines appear from the point of measure to the dimension line.
  • You can move the text box and align the measure leader to the dimension line. You can align it either perpendicular to or along the dimension line.
  • When you measure an angle, you can drag the arc in the opposite direction to compute its conjugate.
  • You can click the measure text box and use the options provided in the Measure balloon to customize the measure.
Important:
  • You cannot copy and paste measures.
  • The angle is always computed between 0 and 180 degrees.
  • When you select the object from the 3D area, the selected object is used for measure computation.
