Weight Analysis

No matter the industry, knowing the weight and center of gravity of an assembly is essential to its design. Weight Analysis is a cross-industry tool that offers a simple and intuitive interface to know the weight and center of gravity of assemblies.

Weight Analysis enables designers to define weight and check weight distribution, with the following key capabilities:

  • Retrieve the computed weight of the different leaves of an assembly
  • Define the declared weight of the different parts of an assembly
  • Track parts for which weight is computed or partially computed (incomplete), declared, missing, or not applicable
  • Check the global weight of an assembly
  • Know precisely how the weight is distributed within an assembly
  • Publish this weight-related data in an excel file that can then be shared with collaborators.

Weight Analysis is available when you click B.I. Essentials from the Tools section of the action bar and then select Weight Definition or Weight Distribution.

Once designers are done defining weight and checking weight distribution with Weight Analysis, weight managers can perform weight synthesis with the Weight and Balance app.

The Weight Analysis app supports design range management. When you create new content, you must specify the associated design range. Normal range is the default option and is sufficient in the majority of cases. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps: Introducing Design Range Management.
