Publishing Weight-Related Data

You can publish weight-related data in an excel file that you can then share with your partners.

This task shows you how to:

Configure the Weight-Related Attributes for Publication

Before launching the publication, you need to specify what weight-related attributes should be published in the excel file by customizing a dedicated XML file.

Before you begin: A template XML file is provided in [installation folder]/startup/posfiles/mask/DEFAULT/WeightPublishing.xml. We recommend that you use this file as a template.
  1. In an XML editor (for example), open the template XML file, or create a new XML file containing the following attributes:

As you can see, the attributes are divided into two categories: PRODUCT and WEIGHT.
  2. For each attribute, set the Visible attribute value:
    • Set it to YES if you want the value to be published in the excel file.
    • Set it to NO if you do not want the value to be published in the excel file.
Save the file at any location. In Me > Preferences > General > Parameters and Measures > Weight Management, select the file in the Attribute visibility definition file box.

You are now ready to launch the publication of your weight-related data.

Publish

Once you have customized the XML file to specify what weight-related attributes should be published, you can now publish the excel file.

Before you begin: You should have an opened product.
  1. Perform the weight synthesis of the product.
  2. In the weight attributes table, click Publish.
The excel file is published in XML format at the location specified in the options.

If you open the published excel file, you can see that it displays the values corresponding to the different parts of the assembly. Only the attributes for which you set the Visible attribute value to YES are displayed. The color code used for the background of the cells in the Weight column is the same as the one used to represent the weight definition status after a weight synthesis. For more information, see Performing Weight Synthesis.

Note: Customized attributes and out-of-the box attributes linked to the references via interfaces are not taken into account during the publication.
