Creating a Bevel-Butt Weld on Coplanar Supports

A bevel-butt weld is a groove weld that needs preparation on only one of the two plates to be welded. Using Bevel-Butt Weld, you can create a bevel-butt weld on coplanar supports.

  1. Select a weld body in the tree.
  2. Select the following faces as supports.

  3. Optional: Increase the thickness of the weld.
  4. Optional: Change the angle value and to extend the weld, specify the value of Extrapol.
  5. Optional: To reverse the bevel-butt weld section:
    1. Select the section.
    1. Move the cursor onto the context toolbar, and on the context toolbar, click Flip .

  6. Optional: Select Generate Weld Impacts.
The app performs a Boolean subtract of the weld shape from the plates being welded.
  7. Click OK.
The bevel-butt weld is created but affected representations are not yet prepared for the welding.
  8. Click Update .
The affected representations are now prepared for the welding.

The bevel-butt weld appears in the tree.
    • An assembly protected weld preparation is created and appears under the Assembly features node.
    • The welded 3D shapes are prepared.
Important: In the tree, the weld impact appears as a feature in the PartBody including impacted 3D shapes. A rep impact is created, maintaining a link between the root product under which the bundle of weld, weld body, and welds are created. Rep impact appears under Impacts manager .
