Creating a Derived Representation

You can create a derived representation from a product.


Before you begin: Open an existing assembly.

About Derived Representations
  1. From the Weld section of the action bar, click Derived Representation .

    On the right side of the 3D area, the Derived Representation panel displays the options.

  2. Optional: Click the Unpin arrow if needed to display the options.
  3. Click Create New option.

    Note: You can either create the derived representation in a new 3D shape or in an existing one.

    The New Content panel appears.
  4. In the New Content panel, click 3D Shape.
    The 3D shape appears in the tree.
  5. To validate, click Validate . To cancel the operation press Esc.
    • The new created 3D shape is populated with the assembly shape content.
    • The specifications of the derived representation are identified under the Derived Representation Specification node in the tree.

    Important:
    • The green diamond that appears on the 3D shape representation icon in the tree indicates that the 3D shape is involved in minimal context within the assembly.
    • Original components in the assembly are hidden.

  6. From the standard area of the action bar, click Update .
