Moving Content (Transferring Ownership)

You can transfer an object that you own to another person. You can only select one person as the new owner, and you cannot transfer to a role or group. The app defines the criteria (role, organization, collaborative space, or other criteria) used to determine which users ownership can be transferred to.

Before you begin: View the Properties page for the object you want to transfer.
Note: Not all Properties pages include the Transfer Ownership command. You might need to use a different command or the button for the Owner field on an editable page.
  1. Click Transfer Ownership from the page Actions menu or toolbar.
  2. Enter these details:

You can only transfer ownership of content to a collaborative space or organization related to your credentials, and to a user whose credentials match either the collaborative space or organization of your credentials.

    Field Name Description
New Owner Click to select the person you want to transfer the object(s) to. You cannot select a role or a group. For more information, see About 3DSearch Queries.

The page updates the list of organizations to show only those that the selected person belongs to.

Organization Select the required organization from the list box. The person might only belong to one organization.

The page updates the list of collaborative spaces based on the selected person and organization.

Collaborative Space Select the required collaborative space from the list box.

  3. Click Done.

If you do not have authority to change the ownership for the object, the app shows an error message. Click Close.

The selected user becomes the owner and is sent a notification. After transferring an object, it no longer shows in your lists of that object type because you no longer own it.
