Copying the URL for the Page

You can quickly copy the URL (the web address) of any pop-up window that has the URL button on the toolbar. You can then send that URL in an email message to another user. If that other user does not have access to that page, their browser will not open it.

For content pages without the tool, use in the top bar.

Before you begin: View the needed page.

Searching for or Entering an mxLink Value
  1. On the page toolbar, click .

If the URL is long, you can press the right arrow to view the entire value.

After creating a custom table view, the URL button disappears because of how the code needs to update the page for the new view. You can re-view the page and the URL button becomes available.

  2. Press Ctrl-C on your keyboard to copy the URL to your computer's clipboard.
  3. Paste the URL wherever you need it (such as a text document or an email message).
The copied link opens the default page for the object, not the active category for the object. For example, if you click on the Specifications category for a Product, the link created for that page opens the default category (Properties) for that Product, not the Specifications category.

When clicking the link:

  • If you are logged into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the link opens the default page for the object.
  • If you are not currently logged in, the link shows the login page. After logging in, paste the URL (it can be copied from the document or email), into the browser's navigation box.
  • If the width of the contents in the page header is too large, the page hides the page header or parts of the page header (usually the lifecycle state). You can resize the window to its fullest size to view the page header. Depending on the size of the content, the full page header might not display.

If you click the link when not logged in the app shows the usual login screen. However, after you login there, the app might show an Internal Server Error. You should log into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform prior to clicking the link, or log in and then paste the link into your browser.

Important: When you click a link to load a page that includes icons in an Actions column, those icons will not work. To access that functionality, use search or the app categories and menus to open the page.
