Direct Edit

You can convert a feature or body using direct-edit tools and use the Robot, scale handle, toolbar commands, constraints, and dimensions to edit the feature or body.

Warning: After you convert a feature or body to a direct-edit feature, you cannot change it back to a parametric feature.
Note: Only solids can be converted to direct edit. You cannot convert surfaces.

  1. Select a face in the work area.
  2. From the Features section of the action bar, click Convert to Direct-Edit .
    The Convert to Direct-Edit dialog box appears, and indicates the selected face or feature and the associated body or feature to be converted. The features to be converted are listed in the dialog box.
  3. Optional: Click Recognize fillets if you want to include fillets in the direct edit.
  4. Optional: Click Recognize chamfers if you want to include chamfers in the direct edit.
  5. Optional: Click Select Body if you want to include the entire body of the selected face in the direct edit.
  6. Click .
    When you select the direct-edit feature in the Design Manager, the Move/Offset Faces toolbar appears in the work area.

    On the toolbar, select one of the following:

    Move or Copy Moves, rotates, or copies the selected face, feature, or body. Drag Robot handles to move or rotate. Ctrl + drag Robot handles to copy.
    Offset Offsets the selected face. Drag Robot handles to offset.

    Use the Robot handles and toolbar commands to edit the feature or body.
