Zoom, Pan, Rotate, Reframe

You can control the display of a model in the work area by using View section features described below. You can also control the display by combining the mouse actions and keyboard shortcuts that vary for Windows and Macintosh.

This task shows you how to:

Reframe

You can place a model to the center of the work area so that it fits in the window.

From the View section of the action bar, click Reframe .

Alternatively, press F to reframe the model.

Pan

You can move the model horizontally or vertically in the work area.

  1. From the View section of the action bar, click Pan .
  2. Left-click and drag the mouse to pan.

    Alternatively, do one of the following:

    • Press Ctrl + middle-click and drag.
    • Press Ctrl + arrow keys.

Rotate

You can rotate the model along the horizontal or vertical axis in the work area.

  1. From the View section of the action bar, click Rotate .
  2. Left-click, and drag the mouse to rotate along the vertical and horizontal axis.

    Alternatively, you have the following rotate options:

    • Middle-click and drag to rotate the view in the direction of the mouse movement.
    • Hover over a geometry feature in the model to highlight, press Ctrl + Shift + middle-click, then drag the mouse to rotate about a fixed axis.

      Geometry rotation is available on straight lines, centerlines of circles, holes, cylinders, fillets, and perpendicular rotation at the touch point on flat faces.

    • Press the arrow keys.
    • Press Shift + arrow keys to rotate in 90° increments.

Zoom In and Zoom Out

You can zoom in and out on the model.

  1. From the View section of the action bar, click .
  2. Left-click, and drag the mouse vertically and horizontally.

    Alternatively, do one of the following.

    • Press Shift and move the mouse wheel forward and back.
    • Press Z to zoom out or Shift + Z to zoom in.
