Counterbore Options

You can specify the depth, counterbore, and head clearance of the hole.

This page discusses:

Sizing and Depth

Options Description

Counterbore. Creates a counterbore hole.
Standard
ASME Inch. General-purpose standard for dimensional inch series engineering and manufacturing.
ASME Metric. Metric standards for worldwide engineering and manufacturing.
DIN. German Institute for Standardization (Deutsches Institut für Normung) for engineering and manufacturing.
ISO. The International Organization for Standardization meets the requirements, specifications, guidelines, or characteristics that ensure that materials are consistent in the products.
Hardware Type
Type of drill or dowel. Options vary depending on the Standard.
Size
Size of the hole. Options vary depending on the Standard.
Fit
Tightness of hole to the hardware.
The following Hole Dimensions options are available:
Diameter. Specifies the diameter of the hole. Click to reset the diameter to the default value.
Counterbore Diameter. Specifies the diameter of the counterbore. Click to reset the diameter to the default value.
Counterbore Depth. Specifies the depth of the counterbore. Click to reset the depth to the default value.
Depth. Specifies the depth and end of the hole.

Bind. Extends the hole for a specified distance.

When Bind is selected, you need to specify the Distance.

Up to Geometry. Extends the hole to the selected plane, planar face, vertex, or sketch point.

When Up to Geometry is selected, click a plane, planar face, vertex, or sketch point to specify how deep the hole is be extended.

Up to Next. Extends the hole to the next body.
Through All. Extends the hole through all existing geometry.
Flip Direction. Reverses the direction of the hole.
Distance. Specifies the depth of the hole.
Offset Distance. Offsets the end of the hole from the selected geometry by the specified distance when Up to Next and Up to Geometry is selected.
Bottom treatment. Specifies the bottom of the hole to either be Flat or a Drill point.

When Drill point is selected, you need to specify the angle of the drill point between 0-180 degrees.

Angle. Specifies the taper angle of the bottom of the hole.
Note: This option is available only for Blind, Up to Geometry, or Up to Next options.

Near Side Options

Option

Description

When Clearance is selected, you need to specify the Clearance you want around head on the far side.

Countersink. Adds a countersink to the head clearance.

When Countersink is selected, you need to specify the Diameter and Angle (between 0-180 degrees).

Underhead Countersink. Sets the diameter of the under head countersink.
Diameter. Sets the diameter of the head clearance countersink. You need to specify the Diameter and Angle (between 0-180 degrees).
Angle. Sets the angle of the head clearance countersink. You need to specify the angle between 0-180 degrees.

Far Side Options

Option

Description
None. Does not add any modification to the hole.
Counterbore. Adds a counterbore for the head clearance.

When Counterbore is selected, you need to specify the Counterbore Diameter and Counterbore Depth.

When Head Clearance is selected, you need to specify the Clearance you want around head on the far side.

When Countersink is selected, you need to specify the Diameter and Angle (between 0-180 degrees) you want for the head below the far side face.

When Underhead Contersink is selected, you need to specify the Diameter and Angle (between 0-180 degrees).

Countersink. Adds a countersink to the head clearance.

When Countersink is selected, you need to specify the Countersink Diameter and Countersink Angle (between 0-180 degrees).

When Head Clearance is selected, you need to specify the Clearance Type; Increase Countersink or Added Counterbore and specify the Clearance you want around head on the far side.
