Making Subassemblies Flexible

You can make subassemblies flexible in their parent assembly. The components of the flexible subassembly are repositionable. After you make subassemblies flexible, you can use them in another parent assembly while keeping their ability intact.

  1. Open a parent assembly in the work area.
  2. From the Standard Area section of the action bar, click Save to save the assembly in a collaborative space.
  3. In the Design Manager Tree, select a subassembly that you want to make flexible and from the context toolbar, click Open .
    The selected subassembly opens in the work area.
  4. In the Tree, left-click the root assembly and from the context toolbar, click Flexibility .
  5. In the Flexibility dialog box, select Enable Flexibility.
  6. From the Design Manager Tree or work area, select components to make repositionable.
  7. Click .
  8. Click Save to save the flexibility settings in the current subassembly.
  9. From the Standard Area section of the action bar, click Open to open the parent assembly from the collaborative space.
    The parent assembly opens in the work area.
  10. From the Standard Area section of the action bar, click Global Refresh to refresh the parent assembly for the latest flexibility changes.
    In the Design Manager Tree, the indicates flexible subassembly and indicates repositionable components.
