Thicken

You can thicken a face or body in the work area.


Before you begin: Create a geometry using the sketching objects and modify it by applying features to it.
  1. From the Features section of the action bar, click Thicken Face/Body .
  2. In the Thicken face/body dialog box, select Body Selection to thicken one or more bodies.
  3. In the work area, select one or more faces.
    Note: You cannot apply this feature to a sheet metal geometry.
  4. To thicken only faces, clear the Body Selection check box.
  5. To remove a section from the selected face:
    1. Select Cut check box.
    2. Select a face from where you want to remove a section.
    3. Drag the Robot handle or specify a value in the dialog box for material removal.
  6. In the Thickness Outward section:
    1. From the Primary Direction Type list, select one of the following options:

      • Blind. Thickens a face or body in the outward direction with respect to the specified distance.
      • Midplane. Thickens a face or body from inside and outside from the selected face with respect to the specified distance.

    2. Drag the Robot handle or specify the Thickness Outward value in the dialog box.

      Note:

      The Dimension Edit Box is displayed as you sketch. Type the value for the dimension and press Enter.

    3. Click or double-click arrow to reverse the direction of a thickness of a face or body or the offset of thickened face or body.
  7. In the Thickness Inward section:
    1. From the Secondary Direction Type list, select one of the following options:

      • Blind. Thickens a face or body in the inward direction with respect to the specified distance.
      • Blind Disabled. Disables Blind option.

    2. Drag the Robot handle or specify the Thickness Inward value in the dialog box.

      Note:

      The Dimension Edit Box is displayed as you sketch. Type the value for the dimension and press Enter.

    3. Click or double-click arrow to reverse the direction of a thickness of a face or body or the offset of thickened face or body.

      Note: The Thickness Inward section becomes unavailable when you select Midplane option.

  8. In the Advance section, from the Thicken with Offset list, select one of the following options:
    • Offset. Offsets thickened face or body.
    • Offset Disabled. Disables Offset option.
  9. Select Auto Merge check box to merge the feature with the selected bodies.
  10. Click .
