Creating a Filled Surface

You can use this feature to construct a surface to fill a gap in a component. The fill feature constructs a surface patch with any number of sides, within a boundary defined by existing edges, sketches, or curves.

  1. From the Surfaces section of the action bar, click Fill Surface .
  2. In the Fill Surface dialog box, select the fill option.
    OptionDescription
    Surface. Creates a surface fill.
    Thin. Creates a thin fill.
  3. Specify the following options:
    OptionDescription
    Outer boundaries

    Creates the fill within the selected edges and curves.

    Tangent propagation Includes all edges and faces tangent to your selection.
    Inner boundaries Creates inner regions to exclude from the results using the selected edges and curves.
    Constraints

    Controls the shape of the results using the selected edges and curves.

    Thickness Specifies the thickness of the material.
    Note: Available if you select Thin.
    Thin midplane Select to create material equally in two directions.
    Note: Available if you select Thin.
  4. Under Display Options, select Display UV Curves to show these options:

    U-curve quantity Displays the specified number of curves in the U-direction of the results.
    V-curve quantity Displays the specified number of curves in the V-direction of the results.
    Trim curves Trims the UV curves to the inner and outer boundaries.
  5. Click .
