Using Copy and Paste on Sketches

You can copy a sketch from outside of an active sketch and paste into selected plane or planar faces. You can copy the entire sketch including its dimensions, constraints, and relations and paste it into another sketch without requiring the sketch to be active.

  1. In the design tree, select the sketch you want to copy.
  2. In the context toolbar, click Copy .

  3. Select a valid plane or face and click Paste to paste the copied sketch.

    Note:
    • If you paste the sketch on a parallel plane or face, all relations or constraints and dimensions are copied from the original sketch to the new sketch.
    • If you paste the sketch on a non-parallel plane or face, only internal relations or constraints and dimensions are copied from the original sketch to the new sketch.
    • If you paste the sketch on a curved surface, an edge, or anywhere in the graphics area without selecting a valid plane, you will get a warning message to make a valid selection before pasting.
    • The Paste icon will be hidden if you don't have anything copied to the clipboard.
