About EBOM Collaboration Modification Rights

The authoring lock in Engineering BOM Management indicates which side of the collaboration, either the EBOM side (in Engineering BOM Management) or the product structure side (in ENOVIA Product Finder), you can make changes. This applies to configured and unconfigured BOMs.

On premises only: Change collaboration works only in Instance mode (Only an administrator can enable Instance mode). If Change Collaboration is not enabled, the authoring lock is not applicable and the Authoring Lock column does not appear in the Engineering BOM Management EBOM view.

Environment: On premises only

Regardless of the side on which you make changes, the other side is locked until after the changes are collaborated and both sides contain the updates. Only the updated part is locked and not the entire BOM or product structure. After the changes are recorded in the change log and both sides are updated, either side can take control and you can make further changes as required.

For parts not under change-required:

  • You can directly edit the BOM.
  • If design control is set, you can modify structures using ENOVIA Product Finder.
  • If design control is not set, you can directly edit the EBOM using Engineering BOM Management.

For parts under change-required:

  • The authoring lock overrides the design control setting.
  • You can modify parts with either ENOVIA Product Finder or Engineering BOM Management, depending on whether the authoring lock shows "EBOM," "Blank," or "Design".
