About Quantity Mode

In Quantity mode, each instance of a part in the BOM where the unit of measure is 'EA (each)' can be represented the same way as in instance mode. Each instance can be in its own row with its own find number and quantity equals '1'.

About Instance Mode

Unlike Instance mode, Quantity mode lets you enter any quantity value when the unit of measure is 'EA (each)'. Since a quantity >1 may not be accurately represented in product structures, Quantity mode is most useful when no design collaboration is applied. Neither mode affects parts that use other units of measure.

In Quantity mode, child part instances that have the same find number are combined into one row. The Qty column shows the total quantity of instances of the child part that have that find number.
