Collaborate with Design

You can modify and synchronize the related bill of materials (BOM) between ENOVIAProduct Finder and Engineering BOM Management.

Required Access Roles:

  • Baseline: Leader, Author
  • Baseline: Author or Leader.

As part of the configured part synchronization process, you must synchronize each revision manually if the ENOVIAProduct Finder Visible attribute on the part is set to True. If you do not intend to synchronize, this attribute must be set to False. If you fail to synchronize a previous revision, the subsequent synchronization on the new revision will fail.

When the product is promoted to the Released state, it is automatically synchronized with the BOM if it was manually synchronized with the BOM at least once before. However, if it was never previously synchronized with the BOM, the automatic synchronization does not occur.

Before you begin:
  1. Search for or create a part.
  2. Select the Part Specs & Documents category. For details, see Specifications.
  3. In the Specifications tab, select Actions > Collaborate with Physical. The Collaborate with Physical slide-in opens.
  4. Add the following information:

    Field Description
Credentials Shows the login role that you will use in the sync operation.
Generate Detailed Report Generates a report about the collaboration process. Click View Details for the report.
Expand Depth From the list, select the depth of the BOM that needs to be synchronized to ENOVIAProduct Finder. Options are: All (Expand All Levels), 0 (Do Not Expand), 1 (Expand 1 Level), Specify. If you select Specify, enter the number you want to expand in the adjacent field.
Design Control If this box is checked, authoring control is transferred to the Product Finder app or the Product Structure Design app. All child instances that the selected object owns must be set to the same Design Control.
Note: You must have appropriate access rights to view this option.

  5. Click Submit.

A summary is displayed indicating the success of the command along with an option to view the details.
