About Change Objects with Applicability

You define applicability to a change object (CO or CA) to propose changes to a configured part or assembly. After being implemented, proposed changes are listed in the applicability definition of the associated BOM. CAs with applicability are used to incorporate and control all change processes for a mixed mode BOM. You can either create a CA or it can be generated from a change order (CO).

Creating a CO auto-generates a CA depending on the applicability of the CO. This auto-generated CA can be used in the change process in a configured BOM. For information, see Build an Effectivity Expression.

  • If applicability is set on the CO that you are creating, then a CA with applicability is auto-generated and connected to the CO with "Change Action" relationship.
  • Description is copied from the CO to the CA with applicability if the CO is created using the Fast Track Change policy.
  • CA with applicability description is not required.
  • Other attribute values of the CO are not propagated to the CA with applicability, but they can be edited.
  • If the CO applicability is edited, the change is propagated to the connected CA with applicability.
