Change-Based Filtering

You can filter the Configured Part Powerview based on the view and one or more change actions that you select.

As an example of how change-based filtering works, assume that:

  • Part A has the BOM structure shown below.
  • Child parts B, C, and D (in bold) are in the validated structure.
  • Child part D is a realized change and in the released structure (CA-1 is completed).
  • Child parts E and F are proposed changes using CA-2 and CA-3, respectively.
Part Proposed Effectivity Current Effectivity CA Comment
Part A
|___B M[1-10] Effectivity for B is added without change
|___C <<blank>> C has no effectivity
|___D M[1-5] CA-1 CA-1 is released
|___E M[10-15] CA-2 Change is proposed but not released
|___F M[1-10] CA-3 Change is proposed but not released

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Change and Filter By Change = none, the proposed changes are hidden in the BOM:

Part Proposed Effectivity Current Effectivity CA Comment
Part A
|___B M[1-10] Displays records that have no change reference effectivity. CA-1 is listed because it is released.
|___C <<blank>>
|___D M[1-5] CA-1

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Change and Filter By Change = CA-1, CA-1 is shown again because it fits the change parameter (it is also released). The proposed changes are hidden in the BOM:

Part A
|___B M[1-10] Displays records that have no change reference effectivity and records that CA-1 references.
|___C <<blank>>
|___D M[1-5] CA-1

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Change and Filter By Change = CA-2, CA-1 and CA-3 are hidden:

Part Proposed Effectivity Current Effectivity CA Comment
Part A
|___B M[1-10] Displays records that have no change reference effectivity and records that CA-2 references.
|___C <<blank>>
|___E M[10-15] CA-2

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Change and Filter By Change = CA-2, CA-3, CA-2 and CA-3 are shown and CA-1 is hidden:

Part A
|___B M[1-10] Displays records that have no change reference and records that CA-2 and CA-3 reference.
|___C <<blank>>
|___E M[10-15] CA-2
|___F M[1-10] CA-3

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Official and Filter By Change = none, CA-1 is shown and CA-2 and CA-3 are hidden:

Part Proposed Effectivity Current Effectivity CA Comment
Part A
|___B M[1-10] Displays all current records.
|___C <<blank>>
|___D M[1-5] CA-1

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Official and Filter By Change = CA-1, CA-1 is shown because it fits the change parameter AND because it is released. The proposed changes are hidden in the BOM:

Part Proposed Effectivity Current Effectivity CA Comment
Part A
|___B M[1-10] Displays all current records that are a part of the official configuration.
|___C <<blank>>
|___D M[1-5] CA-1

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Official and Filter By Change = CA-2, CA-2 is shown because it fits the change parameter. Changes for CA-3 are hidden in the BOM:

Part A
|___B M[1-10] Displays all current records and records that CA-2 references.
|___C <<blank>>
|___D M[1-5] CA-1
|___E M[10-15] CA-2

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Official and Filter By Change = CA-2, CA-3 , CA-2 and CA-3 are shown because they fit the change parameter. Changes for CA-1 are hidden in the BOM:

Part A
|___B M[1-10] Displays all current records and pending changes that CA-2 and CA-3 reference.
|___C <<blank>>
|___E M[10-15] CA-2
|___F M[1-10] CA-3

When you view the BOM with the Configuration view = Projected and Filter By Change = CA-1, CA-2, CA-3 , CA-1, CA-2, and CA-3 are shown because they fit the change parameter. Because the configured view is set as Projected and the filter uses all CAs, the BOM is shown as:
