Introductory Concepts

Before working with xStudio, you should be familiar with various concepts.

This page discusses:

xStudio Experience

When saving or loading in xStudio, you create so called xStudio Realtime Experiences. It contains all relevant information to share your work, save intermediate versions, or deliver the final scenes for the rendering of the output media.

xStudio Experiences contain the following components:

  • All Scenes with the applied settings,
  • All references to the used products, ambiences, and materials.

xStudio Experiences are fully life cycled objects, so you can change their status. For more information, see the User Assistance of ENOVIA Collaborative Lifecycle.

Scenes

A Scene in xStudio defines the variations of the staged product or products through:

  • An ambience or backplate
  • The settings of your camera specifying the view of the product
  • Changes on the product or its parts in terms of
    • Material
    • Texture
    • Positioning
    • Visibility

Furthermore a Scene contains all render settings for the render job specified in the render export to produce your final output media.

Live Preview Rendering

You can use the Preview Rendering to interactively validate the visual quality for a scene or the viewport Camera, with the Stellar Physically Correct rendering technology.

Changes

Since all the content you use in an xStudio Experience references the original in the database, the customizations you make in xStudio are only applied in the Experience you are working on. Most of these adjustments only apply to a single scene and are reflected in a so called Change, that is added to the corresponding section in the content panel.

Render Jobs

To produce rendered output media based on your Scenes, you can specify Render jobs in the Render Export dialog box. The Render job contains settings on how the media should be produced like, the file format, the resolution, and quality. After you start a Render job, you can review its status in the Render job monitor.

Credits

In the Render Export dialog box, you can find the number of credits that are available for running your render jobs.

The number of credits consumed for the rendering depends on the complexity of the scene and the specified render quality. When a credit is consumed, it is deducted from the total count available. Actions consuming credits are irreversible, no matter if they are completed or prematurely canceled.

You need at least one credit to access xStudio. If this is not the case you can only use the Render job monitor with all its functions, like downloading or publishing the images of finished jobs.

To order more render credits, see Purchasing Render Credits.
