Replacing Products

You can replace existing child products in a child product list with their latest released revisions or with other existing products. You can also replace one or more products at a time.

  1. Open the product that includes the product (or products) to replace.
  2. In the product list toolbar, select Usage view.
  3. Select one or more products or instances.
  4. Right-click the child to be replaced, select Replace by, and choose from the following:

    Replace by Latest Revision

    Replace all instances of the selected products with their latest revisions. This command is also available in Reference View.
    Replace by Existing

    Replace all instances of the selected products with a product that is in the database. This command is also available in Reference View.

    Replace by Revision Replace all selected products in the structure. Select Replace by Revision and choose from these options:
    • Replace by Latest Revision. Replace the current revision of the child with the latest revision.
    • Replace by Latest Stable Revision. Replace the current revision with the latest revision that is in either the Frozen or Released state. This option is available only if such a revision exists.
    • Replace by Latest Released Revision. This option is available if a later, released revision exists.
    • Replace By Revision. Select another revision (if one exists).
    Replace by Product Configuration Replace the selection with an existing product configuration. To use this command, select only one object.

    The Replace by command is also available in the child product list toolbar after you select a child product. Click Multiselect in the toolbar to select the command.
