Manufacturing Plan Lifecycle

A manufacturing plan is a set of process steps that describe how a model version or logical feature is manufactured.

This page discusses:

In Work

Product Managers, Manufacturing Planners, Manufacturing Engineers, and System Engineers can create manufacturing plans. They are created in the In Work state.

When the manufacturing plan is in the In Work state, Product Managers, Manufacturing Planners, Manufacturing Engineers, System Engineers, and the Owner can:

  • Modify them.
  • Connect and disconnect them from models and model versions.
  • View where it is defined for logical features and model versions.
  • View its properties.
When the manufacturing plan is in the In Work state, Employees can:
  • View where it is defined for logical features and model versions.
  • View its properties.

Before the manufacturing plan for a model version can be promoted to the Released state, all prior revisions and derivations of the manufacturing plan must already be in the Released or Obsolete state.

Released

Once the manufacturing plan is complete, Product Managers, Manufacturing Planners, Manufacturing Engineers, and System Engineers can promote it to the Released state.

When the manufacturing plan is in the Released state, Product Managers, Manufacturing Planners, Manufacturing Engineers, System Engineers, and the Owner can:

  • View where it is defined for logical features and model versions.
  • View its properties.
  • Demote it to the In Work state.
When the manufacturing plan is in the Released state, Employees can:
  • View where it is defined for logical features and model versions.
  • View its properties.

Obsolete

Once manufacturing plans are no longer used, they are promoted to the Obsolete state.

The Obsolete manufacturing plans appear in the Manufacturing Plans list for a model or model version, but cannot be edited. They can be used as the basis for a new derivation when they are in the Obsolete state.
