Managing Constraints

Constraints in the schedule are dependencies among tasks and milestones.

This task shows you how to:

Work with Constraints

  1. Right-click a constraints line for these options: Edit and Delete.
  2. Double-click a constraint line to change or remove it. See Edit a Constraint.

Create a Constraint

  1. In the schedule, click the tasks and milestones for which you want to make dependencies.

Use the Select control above the tree view for tasks, or Ctrl-click to make multiple selections.

End points display, for example: or .

Note that indicates a milestone with a fixed date that the scheduler cannot move, but you can move manually.

  2. Click the plus-sign at one end point and then drag it to another task or milestone. The left end point of a task represents the start date; the right represents the end date.

A constraint line is created. The arrow points to the task or milestone that takes place after. A red line indicates an unresolved constraint that requires fixing.

If an assignee is causing the constraint problem, the assignee profile picture is highlighted in red. If any assignee other than the first one is causing the issue, the counter is highlighted in red.
