What's New

This page describes recent changes in Connected Software.

This page discusses:

R2022x FD01 (FP.2205)

Double-clicking an Object Launches the Default Action

When you double-click an object, Connected Software launches the default action.
When you double-click (or double-tap on mobile devices) a software item on the Connected Software Landing Page, the app launches the Open action. When you double-click a folder on the Item Page, the folder expands or contracts. When you double-click a file on the Item Page, the file launches in the browser so you can view the contents of the file.
Benefits: This reduces the amount of clicks needed to open or view a file or expand a folder and provides a more natural feel to the app.

Updated to the ID Card for Software Items

The ID Card for Software Items is updated to provide a more unified usability experience.

The ID card for Software Items now provides the following usability enhancements:

  • By default, the ID Card on the Item page is collapsed (minimized).
  • When the ID card is collapsed, you can see the object Maturity, Owner, and Modified properties.
  • The ID card status (collapsed or expanded) persists when reloading or refreshing the app.
  • From ID card, you can move an object to a different Owner.

Benefits: This provides increased visibility to the most commonly viewed properties of a software item and increases familiarity with the app.

Using the Slash (/) Character in GIT Branch Names

You can now create GIT branches that include the slash (/) character.
The slash (/) character in GIT reponsitory branches is used to visualize categorize the repository or branch. Connected Software has been enhanced to allow the creation and maintenance of Git branch names that use / as part of the branch name (for example: ConnectedSoftware/SlashCharacterSupport). This feature requires the connectors version to be R2022x FD01 (FP.2205) or higher.
Benefits: This better supports the recommended GIT working methodology for using slash characters within branch names.
For more information, see SCM Connectors

Selecting and Operating on Multiple Objects

You can now select and operate on multiple objects.
When working with Software Item Versions, you can select multiple objects and perform a selected action on all object versions selected. The actions that support working with multiple software item versions are Delete, Remove Connection, Maturity, New Revision, New Branch, Duplicate, and Remove from List.
Benefits: Being able to select and operate on multiple objects when you perform the same action on a group of objects provides speed and efficiency in performing those actions.

Standardizing the Terms Used in Connected Software

Connected Software has standardized and clarified some of the terms used in the app.
Connected Software has adjusted some of the terms used by the app to provide greater clarity and simplify the language used. For a full list of terms that have changed, see the Program Directory.
Benefits: Clarifying the terms used minimizes the confusion and makes the product easier to use.
