Creating Designs Using Templates

You can create designs using the predefined templates.


Before you begin: Ensure that the templates are created by the Integration Administrator or a user who has appropriate access privileges. For more information, see X-CAD Design Management User's Guide : Starting the CAD Object Design Process : Creating Design Templates.

Saving Designs in 3DEXPERIENCE platform
  1. In the AutoCAD toolbar, select 3DEXPERIENCE > New.
    The 3DEXPERIENCE New dialog box appears
  2. Enter the following details for the design:
    1. In the Templates area, select a template. The Attribute area lists the attributes of the selected template.
    2. In the Name text box, type a name for the design, or select the Autoname check box and select the naming series from the list. If any custom series specific to a type is defined, the Autoname list shows the custom series when an object of that type is selected.

      Important: All AutoCAD designs are saved into ENOVIA type ACAD Drawing irrespective of their CAD Type.
      Note: Selecting the Autoname check box disables the Name field.

    3. In the Attribute area, enter values for the attributes under the Value column.

      Note: In the Attribute area, the attributes mapped in the Global Configuration Object are displayed with the attribute values that is stored in ENOVIA and not on the CAD file.

  3. Click OK.
    The template file is downloaded to the checkout directory and opened in the current AutoCAD session.
    Notes:
    • You can define the checkout directory in the Global Preferences. See Connector for AutoCAD - Installation and Administration : Setting Up and Configuring : Setting Preferences section.
    • You have to save the new design using 3DEXPERIENCE > Save. For more information, see Saving Designs to 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
