Saving Designs to 3DEXPERIENCE platform

You can save new or modified designs to 3DEXPERIENCE platform database that is open in the current session using the Active option, or save all new or modified designs that is in session using the All option.

Designs that are locked or unlocked by you, and designs with modified types are selected by default in the 3DEXPERIENCE Save dialog box since the designs are considered as modified.

User preference settings control the behavior of the Save feature. For more information, see Connector for AutoCAD - Installation and Administration : Setting Preferences section.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  • Open the designs to save in AutoCAD.
  • Set the required preferences while saving designs to 3DEXPERIENCE. For more information about setting save options, see Setting Save Options.

  1. In the AutoCAD toolbar, select 3DEXPERIENCE > Save > Active or All.
    • Active: Save new or modified designs that are active in the current session of AutoCAD.
    • All: Save all new or modified designs which are loaded in AutoCAD.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Save dialog box appears.
Warning: An error message is displayed and 3DEXPERIENCE Save dialog box does not open if there are no changes to be saved in the designs open in AutoCAD.

Tip: If the design is auto recognized, an alert appears in the Alert column for the design. As the auto recognized design is not preselected, you have to select the design to save it. For more information, see About Object Auto Recognition

All the designs open in AutoCAD that are new or modified are listed in the 3DEXPERIENCE Save dialog box. For each design, the 3DEXPERIENCE Save dialog box lists,

    OptionDescription
Check boxA selection check box is available for the designs displayed in the 3DEXPERIENCE Save dialog box. Select the check box corresponding to the required designs to select the designs for save. Designs corresponding to check boxes that are not selected are not considered for save.
Note: The check boxes are preselected for the modified (Locked by you, unlocked, type changed) and new designs.
AlertsAn alert is displayed for the designs corresponding to the check boxes that cannot be selected for save. For example, is displayed for the designs that is locked by another user, obsolete, or the design is in the Release state. The check boxes corresponding to are unavailable and cannot be selected. Pause over to view the tool tip. The tool tip displays the reason why the design cannot be selected for save.

StatusStatus of the design in ENOVIA. One of the following is displayed for each design:
    • New. Design does not exist in ENOVIA.
    • Modified. Modified in AutoCAD since the design was last saved or opened.
    • Obsolete. Newer version of the design exists in ENOVIA database.
StateCurrent maturity level of the design in ENOVIA lifecycle. This is blank for a new design.
Locked By Displays the name of the user who has locked the design if the AutoCAD design being saved already exists in ENOVIA. For a new design, this column displays the default value '--'.
DescriptionDescription entered for the design by the user.
CAD AttributesThis column is displayed only if Show CAD Attributes check box is selected. For more information, see Viewing Attributes of a Design.

Warning: An error message listing the mandatory attributes mapped by the Administrator in the global configuration object (GCO) of the designs being saved is displayed if the mandatory attributes are not set on the design files or their values are Null. These mandatory attributes must be manually updated before saving the designs to ENOVIA. The error message lists the location to update the attribute. A text file, MandAttributesError.txt, is created in the user profile folder with a list of mandatory attributes displayed in the error message .
    Notes:
    • Attributes defined as mandatory in the GCO use the value specified in the GCO.
    • Attributes defined as default in the GCO use the values specified in the properties of a file. If no value is specified in the file properties, then the value specified in the GCO is used. Therefore the value for such default attributes should be defined either in file or in GCO.
    • Attributes defined as null in the GCO use the values specified in the file properties. Therefore values for such null attributes must be defined on file.

The new designs are saved in ENOVIA with the options selected for save applied.
